Born and bred in Johannesburg, Desmond grew up on the outskirts of Edenvale and matriculated from King Edward VII School in Houghton. Having a passion for sports Desmond participated in everything from Rugby, Hockey, Squash and Cricket through to Fishing, Shooting and Cycling.

He spends his free time fly fishing in the wilderness, taking photos and trying to convince that elusive Yellowfish that the fluffy thing with a sharp piece of metal in it is actually a tasty morsel waiting to be ingested.

When time allows Desmond likes to write on his personal blog DesmondStruwig.com and can be followed on Twitter for pertinent industry related updates diluted with a little humor and opinion.
